We will look at artists’ work set against the backdrop of the popularity of on-line gaming. We will look at Massively Multi-player On-Line Games (MMOGs) and the phenomena of ‘emergent behavior’. We will look at artists who create games as well as artists that use games as a point of reference in their work. We will also consider the ‘game mod’ and the growth of machinima as a new form of filmmaking.
